Implicit Bias
In this interactive workshop on implicit bias, participants will explore how our minds have evolved to make snap judgments and how these unconscious processes shape our interactions, decisions, and perceptions of others. Implicit bias, rooted in unconscious cognition, is an automatic response our brains have developed over time as a survival mechanism. However, in today’s complex social world, these quick judgments can lead to unintended biases that affect our behavior and hinder our ability to build inclusive communities.
Through engaging discussions and hands-on exercises, we’ll dive into the science of how the brain processes information and identify ways we can “rewire” our neural pathways to foster greater awareness and understanding. Participants will learn strategies for recognizing and managing implicit biases in their own lives and practice tools to interrupt automatic responses, enabling more thoughtful and inclusive interactions.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the origins and science behind implicit bias and unconscious cognition.
Recognize how automatic judgments are formed and impact our everyday decisions.
Learn strategies to actively rewire the brain and build awareness around biases.
Develop practical tools to create a more inclusive and equitable environment.
Whether you’re an educator, leader, or simply interested in personal growth, this workshop provides valuable insights and skills for anyone committed to fostering inclusivity and reducing the impact of unconscious bias in their lives.
